This is an interesting topic for the world, and has become
even more interesting after Estonia and other similar
incidents. The challenges in this space include overcoming
deployment problems and lack of interest to complete
the design which troubled earlier attempts such as i-trace.
And there would be a requirement to have a solution that
cannot be easily circumvented by botnet implementors
changing the style of their attacks.

Mark Handley has promised to work on a presentation
for int-area on this topic in Chicago. The focus of the
discussion will be what can be done about the challenges,
and whether the research community has progressed
far enough deliver solutions that are ready for deployment.
If the discussion proves fruitful and a concrete BOF plan
can be found, a BOF in Vancouver is a possibility.

Jari
